An old Japanese Ume cultivar, 'Kobai' sports an exceptional winter contrast between their dark bark and prolific blooms. Grown in many forms, they almost always looks good with twisted, highly dynamic trunks and branches. A difficult species to propagate, P. mume have small, delicate leaves and produces edible fruits.
