Shipping

We ship to lower 48 US states only.

All shipments are sent UPS (in some rare cases USPS) with a target transit time of 3-5 business days. For many addresses west of the Mississippi River, this means using UPS 3-Day Select, which costs slightly more.

We usually ship trees Monday and Tuesday with orders generally going out in the order they were placed. We do not guarantee that your trees will ship out by any certain date unless we have personally spoken about it and made note of specific ship date. We are a small hobby business and we get orders sent out as quickly as possible. What we can guarantee is that we will take the most care possible to ensure that your trees arrive safely to you.

Minimum shipping of $15.00 for eastern/midwest regions and $20.00 for western regions (except for seed only orders, which have lower minimums). This reflects the baseline effort and materials it takes to do selection, packing, and boxing.

Accordingly, larger orders benefit from lower shipping cost per tree due to economies of scale associated with shipping 5+ or 10+ trees vs. a single tree or two.

During periods of high heat or extreme cold, we may delay plant material shipments to ensure health.

Limited Warranty on Plant Material

Appalachian Plantworks warrants all its plants to be true to name to the best of our knowledge, to be inspected by the NC Department of Agriculture and certified to be apparently free from dangerous insects and contagious plant diseases and to be in good living condition at the time of delivery to the common carrier.

Buyer's remedy is limited, in the sole discretion of Appalachian Plantworks, to replacement or refund of any goods determined to be defective and covered by this limited warranty.

No plants claims covered by this limited warranty may be brought against Appalachian Plantworks more than three (3) days after receipt of shipment. Any claim notifications must be in writing.

Damages & Shipper Issues

In very rare cases trees or other supplies can be damaged in transit. In these instances please do not immediately take the goods out of the box and certainly do not throw away shipping materials.

Please send us at least 6 different pictures of the state of the box and the tree or other supplies. This will help us file a claim if we choose to do so. This will also help us determine the state of your tree or other products. 

If your tree is seriously damaged due to shipper handling, then we may opt to send you a replacement or give you store credit for a new tree.

We will not replace trees with a broken twig or leaf or two. Leaf damage in general is not a reason for tree replacement and leaf issues are typically temporary.

We must be informed of any shipping issues within 3 days of receipt of your package. This way we can handle any situation in a timely manner. 

In any case, we cannot be responsible for returns or cost of returns made without return authorization. Please do not ship us a return without prior notification and return authorization.

Returns & Claims

If processing a return, we will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return. At that time, we will let you know if the refund was approved or not. If processing a claim due to damage, we will notify you once a claim has been filed with common carrier and/or when said claim has been approved.

Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items.
