Dawn Redwood

Previously only known through the fossil record, the Dawn Redwood (Metasequoia glyptostroboides) was once though extinct. Since its rediscovery in China some decades ago, this exceptional deciduous conifer offers a wonderful canvas for those looking to create breathtaking forest scenes or stunning standalone uprights. Sporting vibrant colors and delicate, feathery foliage, the Dawn Redwood is also very fast to trunk up and quick to backbud when pruned.

Note that this species is deciduous and will not have leaves if shipped during the winter. The trees pictured are representative examples and will not be the exact trees you receive.

Sizing Notes:

• Regular Starts are 1-yr seedlings with the narrowest caliper
• Premium Starts are older, but in the shorter height range with narrower caliper. Some have decent branching while earlier season starts (before June) will not.
• Premium+ Starts are generally a year older and thicker/taller, most with branching.
