American Wisteria (Wisteria frutescens) offers a gorgeous native alternative to the classic bonsai vine species. These healthy starts provide an exciting opportunity to cultivate a stunning flowering specimen deeply rooted in North American flora. Trees produce magnificent purple blooms resembling hanging magnolia cones that drape elegantly from its vining branches. Unlike its Asian counterparts, this variety is non-invasive, making it an excellent choice for bonsai and landscape applications alike. Adaptable to both sun and shade, this deciduous vine unlocks creative styled like root-over-rock, cascading, or free-hanging designs that accentuate its trailing habit.
Note that this species is deciduous and will not have leaves if shipped during the winter. The trees pictured are representative examples and will not be the exact trees you receive.
