Austrian Black Pine

Austrian Black Pine (Pinus nigra) is a single flush, 2-needle pine that responds to techniques similar to Scots or Mugo Pines. Bark Is grey to yellow/brown, and is widely split by flaking fissures into scaly plates and becoming more fissured with age. This mountainous Mediterranean species is common in European bonsai and prefers colder climates up to zone 7. The tree's dense, dark green needles and strong branch structure provide excellent material for classical pine bonsai styling.
