Cornelian Cherry (Cornus mas) is a resilient and adaptable species that, despite its relative rarity in bonsai, excels in bonsai cultivation. Native to Europe and western Asia, this distinctive dogwood relative has seasonal interest year round, producing small yellow flowers in early spring before its leaves emerge, followed by edible red fruits in late summer. The species takes well to pruning and root work, while the trunk develops attractive flaking bark with age.
Note that this species is deciduous and will not have leaves if shipped during the winter. The trees pictured are representative examples and will not be the exact trees you receive. Some may have wire for movement or branch placement.
