Dwarf Hackberry

Dwarf Hackberry (Celtis tenuifolia) a rare native gem, as-of-yet largely untapped as a species for bonsai. With a smaller size bordering on natural bonsai and smaller, delicate leaves relative to C. occidentalis, the Dwarf Hackberry is perfect for bonsai. It's growth habit is one that creates natural movement, creating twists and bends as branches extend. We may only have this one crop of C. tenuifolia, so get them while they last!

Note that this species is deciduous and will not have leaves if shipped during the winter. The trees pictured are representative examples and will not be the exact trees you receive. Some will have wire for movement or branch placement.

Sizing Notes: 

• Regular Starts are 1-2 years old and/or the runts of the litter.
• Premium Starts are 2 years old. Most have developed decent branching and those purchased late season may be wired or lightly pruned.
• Premium+ Starts are usually thicker caliper and offer more structure/development, often 3 years old.
