Dwarf Ninebark (Physocarpus opulifolius) is a cold hardy native not often seen in bonsai cultivation. This dwarf selection boasts smaller leaves than the standard species, making it more suitable for bonsai. As a shrubby, coarse grower, it develops twiggy branching patterns that lend themselves well to naturalistic bonsai styles and it backbuds easily on its old, fissured bark. Thriving in full sun to partial shade, the Dwarf Ninebark's exfoliating bark adds visual interest year-round, while its clusters of small flowers provide seasonal appeal.

Note that this species is deciduous and will not have leaves if shipped during the winter. The trees pictured are representative examples and will not be the exact trees you receive. Some may have wire for movement or branch placement.
