The European Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus) is known for easily developing excellent branching, graceful movement, and remarkable wireability, distinguishing it as a prime choice for bonsai enthusiasts. With its smaller leaves compared to its American counterpart, this species offers a refined aesthetic ideal for creating intricate designs. Known for its exceptional ability to retain flexible branches, the European Hornbeam allows for prolonged shaping. You will want to apply a fungicide early in the year to help keep prevent mildew on the leaves.
Note that this species is deciduous and will not have leaves if shipped during the winter. The trees pictured are representative examples and will not be the exact trees you receive. Some may have wire for movement or branch placement.

Sizing Notes:
