Michael Steinhardt Trident Maple is a golden-foliaged cultivar introduced by nurseryman Don Shadow. Unlike typical green tridents, this variety emerges yellow in spring and intensifies through summer, with colors becoming more vivid through the growing season. The progressive color shift provides ongoing visual interest while it retains the classic trident maple characteristics that make the species popular for bonsai - vigorous growth, reliable backbudding, and good wound healing. These starts originated as cuttings from one of our specimen mother trees at the nursery, so there's no graft union to contend with.

Note that this species is deciduous and will not have leaves if shipped during the winter. The trees pictured are representative examples and will not be the exact trees you receive. Some may have wire for movement or branch placement.
