Commonly called Chinese Five-Lobe Maple or Marijuana Maple, is a small tree found in valleys in several hidden locations in a remote part of Sichuan Province China. This species is very rare in horticultural trade and on the brink of extinction in the wild, with known populations at this time totaling fewer than 300 plants. With an open, airy growth habit and 5 leaflets (penta) attached to red petioles, it makes for a gorgeous landscape tree and some have experimented with it for bonsai, though its rarity has precluded any significant amount of bonsai knowledge being developed around it.

Note that this species is deciduous and will not have leaves if shipped during the winter. The trees pictured are representative examples and will not be the exact trees you receive. Some may have wire for movement or branch placement.

All Acer pentaphyllum are grafted on Acer pseudoplatanus root stock.
