Ulmus parvifolia 'Seiju' is a fantastic cultivar that sports very tiny leaves that max out at about 1/2" when grown vigorously - closer to 1/4" in a bonsai pot. While dwarf, Seiju is still surprisingly vigorous and a very fast grower. As if that wasn't enough, it develops deeply fissured, corky/warty bark within 2-3 years. Like other elms, it responds exceptionally well to bonsai techniques such as pruning and wiring, allowing you to create virtually any desired style. All trees have been cutting grown from an exceptional specimen mother tree.

Note that this species is deciduous and will not have leaves if shipped during the winter. The trees pictured are representative examples and will not be the exact trees you receive. Some may have wire for movement or branch placement.

We are prohibited by law from shipping all Elms and Zelkova to Oregon, Utah, and Washington.
